During the past few weeks we have been exploring the Harappan civilization, which centered around two major cities: Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro. Although they were miles apart from each other, they were both good examples of what planned communities or cities built to a definite plan looked like. Both contained many small buildings, which served as homes and shops. Each city had its own Citadel or fortress that stood on a mound high above the rest of the buildings. Last week, we began our web quest on the land and people who occupied the city of Mohenjo-Daro. Is there anything new you have learned about the city or the people who once occupied it?

  1. Something new that I have learned through my research, is that they had bathrooms that were connected to sewers. Obviously, a conclusion one can draw from this is that their elaborate or detailed drainage system was centuries ahead of their time.

  10. Mahindra, I don't think that they had shops back then, I think they only traded. On the webquest, it said a place called 'Lothal' was used for trading for people Mohenjo-Daro.
